Read‑Write Speed & Thermal Notes

1. Factors Affecting Speed

Actual read‑write speed is affected by the following factors:

  • PSSD controller and flash memory performance
  • USB interface specification, such as USB 3.0, USB 3.1, USB 3.2, USB4
  • Actual speed capability of the computer’s USB port
  • Quality and specification of the data cable
  • UASP status (enabled or disabled)
  • Connection via hub, docking station, adapter or front‑panel USB port
  • File size and file quantity
  • System background tasks, antivirus scanning or indexing services
  • Remaining storage capacity and drive usage status
  • Ambient temperature and heat dissipation conditions

Notes:

  • When a USB 3.x PSSD is plugged into a USB 2.0 port, it will run at USB 2.0 speed.
  • A Type‑C port does not guarantee high speed; real performance depends on device and cable capabilities.
  • Transferring numerous small files is usually noticeably slower than transferring single large files.
  • Sustained long‑duration writes may cause speed drops due to cache exhaustion or temperature rise.
  • For speed testing, use rear‑panel motherboard USB 3.x or higher ports, together with original or certified high‑speed cables.


2. Thermal Information

Heat generation during PSSD operation is normal, and becomes more obvious under these scenarios:

  • Long‑duration read‑write operations
  • Continuous large‑file transfers
  • High‑speed interface transfers
  • High‑ambient‑temperature environment
  • Metal‑constructed enclosure
  • Insufficient heat‑dissipation space
  • Moderate warmth will generally not affect usage.
  • Stop using and inspect the drive if you encounter any of these conditions:
  • Excessively hot enclosure
  • Frequent connection drops
  • Transfer interruptions
  • Abnormally sharp speed reduction
  • Drive no longer recognized after overheating
  • Repeated file corruption
  • Use the PSSD in a well‑ventilated environment. Avoid covering the drive surface for extended periods.


Safe Usage & Data Protection

  • Do not unplug the PSSD directly during file copy, deletion, formatting, disk repair, system backup or video playback.
  • Always safely eject or unmount the drive from your system before disconnecting it after use.
  • Do not operate in high‑temperature, humid, dusty, high‑vibration or strong‑magnetic‑field environments.
  • Prevent liquid contact, dropping, heavy pressure, bending or unauthorized disassembly of the product.
  • Do not use damaged or non‑compliant data cables.
  • Avoid running the drive at full capacity long‑term. Keep some free space to reduce performance degradation and abnormal file‑management risks.
  • Maintain multiple backups for your important files.
  • If the PSSD shows frequent disconnection, RAW status, format prompts, no‑media / 0‑byte status, severe overheating or other anomalies, stop writing new data immediately
